Discover the wonder of birds — and the fingerprints of the Creator — in every feather, flight, and song with this 16-week homeschool science elective.

Inside, your middle school student will learn how to observe birds in the wild, understand the biology and behaviors behind what they see, and connect it all to the creative brilliance of God’s design.

Through video lessons, simple hands-on activities, and field-based exploration, they’ll learn how to ask questions, make discoveries, and fall in love with science.

Let’s take a look at a full lesson.

This preview of Lesson 1 gives you a closer look at how the course works, including the downloadable student guide, engaging video lessons, lab demonstrations, homework questions, and a comprehensive quiz.

Lesson 1: What Makes a Bird… a Bird?

What do a penguin, a hummingbird, and an owl all have in common? In this lesson, we explore what separates birds from every other creature on Earth — how feathers, bones, beaks, and eggs make them a class all their own. We’ll also introduce key observation skills and show your student how to start identifying birds in their own backyard.

Exploration Activities

Throughout the course, your student will engage in low-prep activities designed to get your student outside, observing, and interacting with the world around them. Whether they’re examining the structure of a feather, identifying birds by their calls, or charting migratory routes, they’ll explore the world of birds through interactive learning that deepens understanding.

Step-by-step activity guide them through every exploration — so you can step back, and let discovery unfold.

Comprehension Quizzes

Each lesson includes a quick quiz that’s auto-graded and designed to build retention without pressure. Your student will get instant feedback and can revisit anything they missed with confidence.
