This past May (just three months ago!), we hosted our highly anticipated Virtual Science Fair, and we couldn’t be more thrilled about how it turned out.
More than just showcasing incredible projects, this event truly fostered a wonderful sense of community among homeschool families!
How Our Virtual Science Fair Brought Homeschool Families Together!

We saw incredible creativity and thoughtful exploration this year, and we’re excited to celebrate the standout winners:
- 🥇 1st Place: Kaylie Monson’s “Density of Cupcakes” delighted the judges with a deliciously scientific twist.
- 🥈 2nd Place: Boden Duerksen’s “Making Things Beautiful” showcased how artistry and scientific principles intersect perfectly.

Building Community Through Science
While the projects themselves were incredible, one of the best parts of this year’s virtual science fair was the sense of community it built. Families across the globe came together to cheer each other on, discuss projects, and connect over their shared homeschooling journeys.
It was heartwarming to see the vibrant discussions and supportive feedback families shared during our online showcase.

Inspiring Christian Homeschool Science Fair Projects
Science fairs provide an exciting opportunity for Christian homeschool families to integrate faith with science seamlessly. For instance, exploring the density of cupcakes can become a delightful lesson on how precisely God designed the physical world.
Artistic projects like “Making Things Beautiful” help students connect the scientific beauty of God’s creation with personal creativity. Projects exploring health, such as analyzing drink ingredients, naturally lead families to conversations about biblical stewardship of our bodies.
Many families found inspiration for these types of projects through our Experience Astronomy course, where students regularly explore God’s handiwork through the cosmos.
Lessons Learned: Embracing the Scientific Method
Throughout the two-month journey leading up to the fair, families dove deeply into the scientific method—asking questions, forming hypotheses, conducting experiments, and drawing conclusions. This intentional exploration empowered students to not just learn about science but to truly experience it.
Families who participated shared that this hands-on approach not only enhanced their scientific understanding but also deepened their discussions about faith and God’s world. If you’re thinking about participating next year, our Free Science Fair Guide is a wonderful starting point, packed with tips and inspiration.
