Lab Supplies for World of Birds

For our junior high-level science classes, we try to keep specialty lab supplies to a minimum in order to make the class and activities accessible for all families. Below you’ll find options for where to purchase the few specialty items required, along with a complete list of lab supplies needed for each lesson in World of Birds.

Purchasing Lab Supplies

World of Birds Lab Kit (coming soon!) We have partnered with Cornerstone Educational Supplies to provide our World of Birds lab kit. If you plan on completing all of the labs, this is the most convenient option

Purchase supplies a la carte: If you’ll be choosing select labs to complete or want to purchase just a few supplies at a time, use the links below to purchase items a la carte from Home Science Tools.

Lab Supplies on a Budget

We understand the budget constraints of many homeschoolers — purchasing curriculum and supplies often for multiple children can be pricey! We recommend your students plan to watch all of the lab videos. For those labs that require specilaty supplies, we’ve included images and demonstrations so they can follow along at home.

Specialty & Household Lab Supplies

Below are two lists of supplies you’ll need. On the left are lab supplies that need to be purchased from a lab supply company. On the right is a list of supplies you will likely have around your house or that you can easily acquire from a local store. Alternatively, you can see a list of lab supplies listed by lesson on this page.

Note: A bird field guide or identification book specific to your region will be used throughout the course. Students will also need a notebook for journaling their observations, which will be used regularly during lab activities. Binoculars are optional but recommended to support birdwatching. These items will be needed starting in Lesson 1.
