Experience Astronomy equips students with foundational concepts in astronomy. Our elementary level course is for families with students 6-11 years old and can be taken by students all over the globe—in both the Northern and Southern hemispheres.

For millennia, people have been intrigued by the question: “What’s out there?” In Experience Astronomy Level A, your elementary student(s) will adopt a classical method of studying the night sky and discover the answers to the questions…

Why do we see what we see in the sky?

How do the sun, moon, stars, and planets move…and why do they move that way?

The first half of Experience Astronomy Level A explores the stars and celestial bodies we can see with the naked eye. The second half gives students a look at deep space, and the chance to explore different planets within our solar system as they answer the question, “What makes Earth such a special place to live?”

This preview includes a sample from the first half (Lesson 1) and second half (Lesson 24) of Experience Astronomy Level A. You can also download the accompanying pages from the Student Adventure Guide for these lessons.

Lesson 1: Why God Loves Astronomy

God is the creator of the sun, moon, and all the stars in the sky. God gave us the lights in the sky to give us the rhythms of day and night, to help us mark the seasons of the year, and to give us light so we can see. In Lesson 1, we help students explore these concepts at a level they can understand.

Lesson 1: Memory Video

This is the “memory video” for Lesson 1. All main video lessons are complemented with a short memory video, telling students facts they should memorize before the next lesson.

Lesson 24: Saturn – Put a Ring On It

Ancient people believed Saturn was the planet furthest away from the Earth as it moved slowly through the sky. But what they couldn’t see was all of Saturn’s beautiful rings that make it the most recognizable planet in the solar system.

Lesson 24: Memory Video

This is the “memory video” for Lesson 24.
